something that i wrote in NTU's application:D i hope it dont sound...wrong.
"Knowing that my english proficiency is not as strong as my mandarain, studying English Literature in junior college has been a great challenge. No matter how much effort i put in this H1 subject, i have always scored an undergrade for it. Consulting my tutor, Mr Saspurie, has always been an "obstacle". The fact that he instilled fear in us during lessons time with his drastic mood changes and sarcastic criticisms have led me to dislike literature gradually. Due to the increasing emphasis and importance of our contrasting H1 subject, it is hard to neglect and give up on it. Nonetheless, scoring in all my subjects have always been an aim. Three months before the major examinations begin, i tried consulting him. In return, the consultation turns into a lecturing session. He had waked me up from my dreams, that the last minute consultation is just a solace and never a remedy for myself to ace the subject. It was then that i realised that the consultation at the eleventh hour will not help me do better. His words, were surely discouraging to others, but instead, it has spurred me to prepare and try my best to score a passing grade, at the least, in my A Levels. To me, Mr Sas is a very unique tutor, knowing that his temper is not something that students would want to test with, he has unknowingly disciplined us and strive for the betterment of our subjects, not only English Literature that he tutored in. He has truly touched my life and acing in my contrasting subject is the only way to repay his continual support for me."
